O'Neil's students have great success with this assignment. For example, Matt Emond created several pieces that produced believable full-color images, such as the red truck and bus depot sign.
Due to the process, other pieces end up with interesting color quirks and other appealing visual oddities. For example, the different color layers may align in one part of the image, but not another, such as the head versus the rest of the frame in Emond's photo of the graffiti wall. Moving subjects, such as the cows in Megan Stapleton's landscape, register in different places in each color layer.
